Can solar power weather the econ storm?

April 14, 2009

The PBS NewsHour included a segment tonight (Tuesday) showing how the solar power industry, like most others, has been hit by the economic slowdown.

For me, the take-away message is that the economy walloped a few companies (ones that had taken on too much debt, for instance), but it only temporarily slowed healthier and better-run firms.

CEOs and analysts give props to the President for investing in renewable energy, and the piece ends upbeat.

These are still dark times but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And when we get a bit closer to it, we’re likely to find that it’s coming from the sun.

You can watch the segment here.
